How to apply

1. Prep. Shower, exfoliate and dry off. Shave or wax earlier in the day (the day before is best). Start on clean, dry skin with no oil or lotion on it.

2. Apply a thin layer. One area at a time, in long strokes from the ankles up. It goes on white, so blend until it disappears. Use less on knees, elbows, ankles and wrists.

3. Wash your hands. Right away, with soap: palms, between your fingers and around your nails.

4. Let it dry, then sleep. Wait until it feels dry before you get dressed, and wear loose, dark pajamas the first night. Rinse with lukewarm water in the morning. For deeper color, add another thin layer the next evening.

    Let it dry before you get dressed and sleep in loose, dark pajamas. Rinse in the morning. Want it deeper? Add another thin layer the next evening.

Questions, answered

Will it turn me orange?
Orange usually comes from too much tanning agent for your skin tone, or from stacking layers too fast. Lingo has no dye or bronzer, so the color you see is the tan itself. Start with one thin layer, check your color in the morning, and add a second night only if you want it deeper.
How do I avoid streaks and dark ankles, knees or hands?
Dry areas take more color. Exfoliate first, put a little regular moisturizer on knees, elbows, ankles and wrists, and apply in long strokes with less product on joints. It goes on white, so you can see what you have covered until it is blended in. Wash your palms and between your fingers right after.
Does it smell like fake tan?
The lotion has a light, pleasant scent. Like every DHA tanner, a faint “tan” scent can come through while the color develops. That comes from the tanning reaction, and your morning rinse takes it down.
It goes on white. How do I know I covered everything?
The white film shows where you have been while you spread it. Work one area at a time and blend until it disappears. If you spot a lighter patch the next morning, add a thin layer there that evening.
Will it stain my sheets, clothes or towels?
There's no dye or bronzer in it, which is what usually marks sheets and white clothes. Let it dry before you get dressed, and sleep in loose, dark pajamas the first night: while the tan develops, heavy sweat can still leave a faint mark. Your first morning rinse can tint a light towel, so use a dark one that first time.
How long does the color last? Can I go darker?
It isn't permanent: the color sits in the top layer of your skin and fades gradually as that layer renews. Moisturize daily and add a thin layer when it starts to fade. For deeper color, add another thin layer the next evening.
Can I use it on my face?
It's made for the body. If you try it on your face, patch-test first, use a pea-size amount, blend it thin, keep it away from your eyes, lips and eyebrows, and wipe your hairline.
Does it protect me from the sun?
No. It contains no sunscreen and does not protect against sunburn. A self tan is color, so keep wearing your sunscreen.
Is Medium the right shade for me?
Medium is the shade in every pack, and you control the depth. Very fair or burn easily? Go extra thin the first night. Olive or already a little tan? Two nights gets you deeper.
Will it make freckles or age spots darker?
A little, yes. The tanning agent colors every bit of skin it touches, so freckles and age spots can look slightly darker. Use a thinner layer over them.
I have sensitive skin. Can I use it?
Patch-test first: put a little on a small area, wait 24 hours, and stop if redness or itching appears. If you have known allergies, message us for the full ingredient list before you order.
Do I need a tanning mitt?
No. Clean hands work: wash them with soap right after, including your palms and between your fingers. A tanning mitt or disposable gloves keep your palms clean if you prefer.
