How big a room will it heat?
It's made to warm the one room you're in: a bedroom, a home office or your corner of the living room. You'll feel it most in front of it, within its 70° sweep. How much it warms up depends on insulation, ceiling height and how cold it is outside, so we don't publish a square-footage number, and it isn't meant to replace central heating.
Can I use the fireplace light without the heat?
Yes. The flame light has its own key and works with the heat on or off, in 7 colors. It's a light effect: there's no real fire and the window gives no heat. Only the window and the small blue display light up; the front mesh stays dark, even on High.
How many heat settings does it have?
Four modes: High (1500 W), Low (1000 W), Fan only (no heat) and ECO, which switches between high heat, low heat and off on its own to hold the temperature you set, anywhere from 50 to 95°F.
Will it run up my electric bill?
On High it draws what any 1500 W heater draws, and 1000 W on Low, so the cost depends on your electricity rate and how long it runs. You stay in control: the thermostat stops the heat once the room reaches your setting, ECO switches between high, low and off on its own, and the 12-hour timer turns it off for you.
Is it safe with kids and pets?
It has a tip-over switch, overheat protection, a child lock for the keys and flame-retardant materials. Like any space heater it gets hot and needs clear space: keep 3 ft free in front, and keep an eye on children and pets around it.
Can I leave it on overnight?
We don't recommend running any space heater while you sleep or when you're out of the room. Set the timer (1 to 12 hours) so it switches itself off.
Can I plug it into an extension cord or a power strip?
No. Plug it straight into a wall outlet. It draws up to 1500 W, so if a breaker trips, use an outlet on a circuit that isn't already running other high-power appliances.
How loud is it?
The manufacturer rates it under 45 dB. A fan pushes the warm air out, so you'll hear a soft, steady airflow.
Can I change the settings from the couch?
Yes. The remote has the same keys as the top touch panel: power, heat mode, ECO, temperature up and down, oscillation, timer, flame, light and lock.
Does it keep heating once the room is warm?
No. The heat switches off once the room reaches the temperature you set. In ECO mode it also steps between high heat, low heat and off on its own to hold that temperature.
Does it need assembly?
Only the base: clip the two halves together, thread the cord through and screw the nut onto the column.
Does it work outside the US?
It's made for US 120 V, 60 Hz wall outlets and has a polarized US plug. It isn't made for 220–240 V countries such as the UK.
