That’s the whole installation
Two ropes over something solid, pulled tight, done. There’s no ground stake, no sandbag, no blower to plug in and no cable running across the grass for people to trip on.
It hangs at whatever height your branch or eave gives you, so pick your spot before you order — and hang it somewhere it can swing freely without hitting a wall or a window.
Cute, not scarySmall children come closer, not away
It’s a friendly draped ghost with two round eyes. No teeth, no blood, no jump-scare, no sound. Toddlers point at it; the ones who are frightened of the neighbour’s animatronic are usually fine with this.
If you want something that makes teenagers scream, this is the wrong shelf entirely — go and buy something with a motor and a motion sensor. This one is for the house that wants the street to smile on the way past.

The first week of NovemberIt folds flat and goes back in the box
The fabric folds, the ropes coil, and the whole thing goes back into the carton it arrived in. Keep the box — it stores in the loft next to the Christmas decorations rather than going in the bin on the 1st.
Most people put this kind of decoration up on the first weekend of October and take it down the weekend after Halloween. That’s three or four weeks of use a year, for however many years you look after it.
Let's be straight with youWhat this is, and what it isn’t
It is not a swing. The wooden seat is part of the decoration and it will not hold a child’s weight. Hang it where nobody is going to try to sit on it, and tell your kids what it is.
We don’t have a tested weather rating for it. It’s fabric with an electrical light inside. Under a porch roof, an eave or a thick branch it’s in its element; a night of driving rain is another matter, and we’d rather you brought it in than found out for us. Email us before ordering if it has to live somewhere fully exposed.
Several specs aren’t confirmed yet. We don’t yet have the maker’s figures for exact height, battery type, runtime, or whether there’s a remote or a timer — so we’re not going to print any of them. If one of those decides it for you, write to us first and we’ll tell you exactly what we know.
It doesn’t move on its own. The swinging comes from wind. On a completely still night it hangs there and glows, which is lovely, but it isn’t motorised and we’re not going to imply it is.
Before you hang it
Fix the ropes to something genuinely solid, keep it clear of walkways and driveways where it could swing into someone, and don’t hang it above steps. Check the knots after the first windy night.

Can my child sit on it?
No. It looks like a swing but it is a decoration — the seat is part of the prop and will not take a child’s weight. Hang it where nobody will try, and say so to any child who asks.
Can it stay outside?
Under a porch roof, an eave or a good thick branch, yes — that’s what it’s for. We don’t yet have a tested weather rating from the maker, so treat it like any fabric prop with a light in it: bring it in or unhook it if a real storm is forecast.
Does it move on its own?
No. The movement comes from wind, which is the whole point — it swings instead of blowing over. On a completely still night it hangs and glows. It is not motorised.
How does it light up?
There’s LED lighting inside the fabric, so the whole ghost glows from within rather than being lit by a spotlight. That’s what makes it read from the street after dark.
What batteries does it take, and how long do they last?

Is there a remote or a timer?
