The real problem

It’s not your back. It’s your seat.

Many car seats are shaped like a bucket, and many office chairs sag at the back. Sit in one long enough and your body follows the dip:

Side view of a seated figure in a car seat that dips at the back: hips below the knees, pelvis tipped back, gap behind the lower back
  1. 1Your hips sink lower than your knees.
  2. 2Your pelvis tips back.
  3. 3Your lower back rounds out, with nothing behind it.

In the car, the dip puts more of your weight on your tailbone.

Do the math: One hour of driving a day is 250+ hours a year in that dip. A full-time desk job can be close to 2,000.

What people usually try

  • A rolled-up towel

Slides down by the first red light.

  • A separate lumbar pillow

Never in the same spot twice.

  • A flat seat cushion

Lifts you up, still leaves the gap behind your back.

  • A new office chair

Hundreds of dollars, and it won’t fix your car.

You can’t swap your car seat. You can fix what you sit on.

The easy fix

Drop it in. Sit back. That’s it.

  1. 1

    Set it on the seat

Backrest against the seatback, cutout at the back. It’s one piece, so there’s no second pillow to line up.

  2. 2

    Sit all the way back

The contoured seat lifts and levels your hips. The curved backrest fills the gap behind your lower back.

  3. 3

    Drive or work like normal

The open slot behind your tailbone takes pressure off it, and the thigh channels give your legs a natural place to rest.

Without the cushion: seated figure with hips below the knees and a gap behind the lower back

WithHips level, lower back supported

With the cushion: the same figure sitting upright on the one-piece cushion, hips level with the knees, lower back against the curved backrest

It encourages a more upright sitting position, so you’re not fighting the seat all day.

A comfort and posture cushion, not a medical device.

What makes it work

Seat and lumbar support, molded as one.

  • Two-lobe lumbar backrest of the one-piece seat cushion

    Two-lobe lumbar backrest

Two rounded lobes with a dip in the middle sit in the gap behind your lower back. It’s molded to the seat, so it’s in the same spot every time you sit down.

  • Open tailbone slot through the base of the backrest

    Open tailbone slot

A slot right through the base of the backrest, just behind your tailbone, so your tailbone takes less of the pressure.

  • Two contoured thigh channels at the front of the seat cushion

    Contoured thigh channels

Two shallow channels up front give your legs a natural place to rest.

  • Hand pressing into the slow-rebound memory foam, leaving a palm imprint

    Slow-rebound memory foam

It sinks in slowly under you, molds to your shape and rises back when you get up. Charcoal-grey top, white side band.

Good questions

Before you order

Will it raise me too high in the car?

It adds some height, like any seat cushion. If your head gets close to the roof or the wheel feels low, drop the seat one notch. Before you drive, check that you reach the pedals comfortably and see the road clearly.

Does it stay in place?

The backrest leans against the seatback and your weight holds the seat down, so it’s held from two sides, and the non-slip dotted base helps keep it in place. Push it all the way back before you sit, and give it a quick straighten when you get in.

Can I wash it?

The cover zips off: hand wash it and let it air dry. Don’t wash the foam core itself.

Will it go flat after a few weeks?

It’s slow-rebound memory foam: it sinks in slowly under you and comes back to shape when you get up. Like any foam cushion, it softens a little with daily use.

Is it firm or soft?

In between. It gives slowly as you sit down, then holds you. Memory foam usually feels firmer when it’s cold and softens as it warms up.

Does it get warm? Can I use it with heated seats?

Memory foam holds some body heat, like any foam cushion, so it isn’t made to keep you cool. On a heated seat, you’ll feel much less of the heat through the foam.

Will it fit my seat?

It’s approx. 18 x 16.5 in at the seat and about 15 in tall overall, made for standard car and truck seats and office chairs. Very narrow sport seats with high side bolsters can be a tight fit, so compare with the flat part of your seat first.

Does it work on an office chair too?

Yes, it’s the same cushion. It’s one piece, so moving it from the car to your desk takes a second. Or get the 2-pack and leave one in each.

Is it a good gift?

If they drive a lot or sit at a desk all day and keep complaining about the seat, yes. Nothing to charge or set up. The 2-pack (one for them, one for you) ships free in the US.

Is it a medical product?

No. It’s a comfort and posture cushion, not a medical device, and we don’t make medical claims. If you have pain, talk to a doctor or physical therapist.

Do I still need breaks on long drives?

Yes. A better seat makes the hours more comfortable, but getting out and stretching every couple of hours still matters.

How much is shipping?

US shipping is $3.99, and free on orders from $59.99, so the 2-pack and 3-pack ship free. Questions about your order? Write to us through our Contact page.
